GM engine code

this maybe have been brought up before, but can someone tell me how we classify our engines?
ive heard of lnf, lsj, etc.
so what is the 2.2 , 2.4, 2.0 ?
thanks
im trying to figure out header and downpipe and its driving me nuts since they are using the lettering instead of the numbers for engine size

SS = 2.0, LS & LT = 2.2, 2LT=2.4 some exceptions may apply.

Never mind, that was not the question.

Try looking up parts at GMPartsEast.com, they give you a choice of what engine with the technical numbers when it classifies the car.

2.2 (GAS not E85) is L61, 2.0 is LNF until somebody say different.

What I was trying to say is : go to GMpartseast and look for parts for your car, when they are qualifying your choices you will get to choose engine they give you a choice.

The 2.2L (non Flexfuel) is L61, 2.2L (Flexfuel) is LE8, 2.4L (non Flexfuel) is LE5, 2.4L (Flexfuel) is LE9, and the 2.0L is LNF. Hope this helps.

Yeah you and I are L61, and the supercharged 2.0 in the cobalt is lsj.
For the zzp headers, you want one for your transmission type, manual is a slightly shorter downpipe than an automatic. Otherwise L61, LE5 and LSJ should be interchangable. The LNF (2.0 turbo) has three studs to the catback, where all others have two, it wont fit yours.
I have a zzp longtube header/downpipe combo made for an auto cobalt, fits great.
