My personal experience, which includes a refund from the dealer is that "GM Certified" adds $700 to the price. Is the 39 (or whatever number) point inspection worth $700. In my case the dealership refunded the $700 because they got caught in a lie, "Certified" does not mean the used car salesman is not a liar! (tone that rhetoric down, Don). "GM Certified" is just a gimmick to sell used cars, if all you get is that check off list it is not worth anything, go next door and pay less you still get the mfg. warranty.

Just be aware that you are paying $700 for the "GM Certified" logo. Find out exactly what you are getting for your money, and decide for yourself if it's worth the bucks.

There us a 2010 that I found they are asking 15,800 for. Has 17,000 miles.

Looks like I may be going to look at it in the coming weeks if they dont sell it. Its 2 hours away so Im trying to make sure everything is in order before I make the travel to go look at it.

sounds pricey to me... I stumbled onto a 2010 HHR SS in crystal red for sale on craigslist (California, Inland Empire (Temecula))... 5 speed with performance package & less than 400 miles for $18k... and as far as I know, it's STILL for sale!

No, it is not just a gimmick or a logo.

I just purchased a 2011 LT2 with 7,000 miles (formal rental) for $15,750. I know the dealer well, and know I can trust him to treat me fairly. I spent 2 years as a controller of a GM dealership, and it does level the playing field a bit. (I approach a car deal not as a game of "beat the dealer" but with the acknowledgement that they are *gasp* entitled to to make money when they sell me a car). When we do a deal we talk ACV's and wholesale values.

The CPO, or Certified Pre Owned program costs the dealer $400.00. It is of course tacked on to the price of the car. If you don't think it's worth it, you can get the dealer to remove the the CPO certification and reduce the price of the car. I'm not a fan of buying extended warranties, but I think the CPO program is a good deal. In this case, I bought a car with 7K miles, and put in service on May 16, 2011. The CPO extended the original, bumper to bumper no deductible warranty by 12 months and 12,000 miles. This means that my HHR is now warrantied by GM to 48,000 miles and out to May 16, 2015. It also includes oil changes and tire rotations for 30,000 miles from the point of my purchase. It is not just a 31 point inspection.

My dealer also told me that he would not be able to replace the vehicle he sold me for anywhere near what he had in this one; the price on HHR's has been getting stronger as we are getting further from the last date that these were built. He was on the GM auction site yesterday bidding on program cars and he couldn't touch one for less than 16,000 (his cost) and that was without adding any of the auction or transportation costs.

Your deal looks reasonable. I always like to buy low miles, I think low mileage is undervalued.

I drive by a couple of dealers on the way home from South LA and saw a sign that had an '10 HHR for under $9K. Don't know model, mileage, etc., so can't say if that was a good deal or not.

I love my 07 and other then people not being able to see a black HHR with pink pinstripes the past 2 months (so far, $3K in damages from others hitting me), it is a great car.

2011 for 14,550

I just bought a 2011 silver HHR with 11,455 miles for just over 14K. It was super clean and was a former rental according to carfax. I had looked for a good HHR for a couple weeks before finding this one in Johnston, RI. Everytime I would see a nice one on car.com it would be gone by the time I got to the dealer to check it out.

Appears that I will be going to look at one friday.

2007 lt2 with 49000 miles. Price is considerably cheaper than anything else I have looked at so that makes me happy.

If I purchase I will have pics uploaded quickly

First thing wba, welcome to the site. If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy your HHR?

I live just up the road from you (outside of Laurel). I bought an Arctic white 2011 2LT at Frederick Ford just before Christmas. Sounds a lot like yours.

@lsf21, I hope you have a safe trip going to look at the 2007 HHR on Friday. Did you happen to visit the Kelly Blue Book site to check what they value the vehicles at?
