GPS Mounting ideas

I am looking for different ideas for mounting my portable 4" Garmin GPS. I have it on the window above the dash storage compartment and hate it there. Looking for ideas were it won't block my view out the windshield. Thanks

I'll post a picture later on tonight, but, I modified a TomTom One XL mount for the dash of the wife's '06 2LT. You might also want to check www.proclip.com

The link works, but it takes you to a web name seller. Apparently proclip is no longer in existence (at least on the web) and that name, proclip, is for sale.

I put mine in the lower left side of the windshield, can't block much more than the A pillar already blocks.

I put mine on one of the self adhesive disks provided with my Garmins - just stuck it to the left of the dash storage compartment, and it is low enough that it doesn't block much. I found if the gps was attached to the vertical part of the dash it sometimes took forever to lock onto the signals.

Don't know about a GPS mount location, but I did put a mount in for my phone. Got the Torque app and was looking for the best place to mount the phone.
Been driving around for a couple days with it here. I do notice it but it doesn't seem to really be in my way.

I bought my Garmin from HSN, and it came with two different mounts. One is the typical one that sticks to the windshield, and the other that hooks to the heater/AC vent. I used the vent one. It is at a good level for me to glance at.http://www.arkon.com/GPS%20Mounts/gps-car-mounts.html. Last one at the bottom of the page.

I open the dash top compartment door, and my Garmin Velcros into the opening, top and bottom. Holds the door down on the gps. Very visible, easy to remove and place. When I'm parked in any public area, I just put the gps on the floor, where it is pretty much not in sight.
