Hello all...
Yes, I too play with my DIC too (nevermind that!) but average around 29 - 30mph on my daily commute. To be honest, my DIC is almost always right (unless I've been drinking) .
I know this outta disbelief... so I started logging mileage at fillup's and calculating for accuracy (I know, I know- I'm anal about some things).
Granted- my drive is a variable-speed highway drive the whole way... and I have the 5-speed MTX (which should be slightly lighter than the ATX?- although not enough to make a difference).
Then again- I typically DON'T try to mash the pedal through the floor when taking off from lights and average around 70 - 75mph on the x-way. Guess I could get better mileage with slower speeds - but I'm not complaining! Especially since my 2000 S-10 pickup only averaged 20mpg!!! That's one 16 gallon fill-up every week ($45) for the HHR vs. two and 1/2 fill-ups for the S-10 ($112.50) PER WEEK!

I've come to realize we all love and play with our DIC's....Alot
But all kidding aside, I reset mine on each fillup as well as record my mileage and gallons of gas. My calculations are very close to those of the DIC, I'd say within .4 average. Sometimes my calculations are better and sometimes worse so overall I would say it's pretty accurate. every tankfull so far I'm averaging a low of 28.8 and a high of 31.4, I drive a combination of city / highway and I'm not easy on the throttle.

Since I am typing with both hands, I can assure everyone that my hands are not on my DIC at this point, I reset at every fill-up and since I am an Instrumentation engineer I check the numbers via math ( miles traveled versus gallons used) usually very close, so I am happy with the 29.4-29.7 that I am averaging...
