i used to travel on the road alot whey i was selling motorcycle accessories
been real close to hitting a deer w my motorcycle, one time i missed a buck grazing by the road by inches. i was hugging the inside of the road and thank goodness he didnt jump. i was pulling a trailer.
i had a trucker in west texas tell me back in 81 if you dont blink your lights, dont change your speed and just stay the way you were they wont move. he then told me if you see a doe running by the road, do all you can to stop or slow down as much as possible cause they are just fricking nuts and do anything.
with that said, i did run across a doe at night running ahead of me, i had my trailer and i just slowed to a slow speed as fast as i could. kept slowing and so did the stupid doe. finally it cut in behind me across the road and barely missed my trailer as it jumped over the back end which as maybe 2feet tall.
i did hit a dog head on one time doing 90 pulling a trailer on a I10 coming home. big dog ran across right in front of me, i just pushed on the highway floorboards with my feet, pushed as hard as i could bracing the handlebars. bike barely wiggled, basically said what will be will be. 1000 pounds of bike and rider and 4 to 500 lb trailer doig 90 and i didnt slow down, didnt have time. Dog lost.
pheasant hit my bike one time south of Dalhart from the right side. stopped, went back and got him, threw him in the ice chest in a garbage bag,,, ate him that night in Colorado at Estes Park,,, man was it good. didnt do anything to the bike, gave me and the guy riding w me one great dinner.
