Lightbulb Headlights

What is a good headlight to put in hhrs?

My OEMs went out, so i put some Silver Stars in, now they've blown

I want to put some of these in http://www.amazon.com/Philips-9008-E.../dp/B00480N0XW

is the whole eco-bulb gas saving statement true?

Lots of discussions about silverstars and them blowing out. It seems to be decidedly negative because of this, not to mention the difficulty in changing them. OEM's seem to be best, for what it's worth. Welcome to the site!

Changing the headlights in the HHR can be a PITA. You really have to get the splash shield pulled away to get the bulbs in without getting anything on them. My wifes has as Silverstars in for 6 years now and still work great. The key is not getting any sort of oil or dirt on the bulb during installation.

As far as the eco part, most (if not all) standard headlight bulbs are charged with some sort of gas, most are halogen, and it's a very small amount. But reading it will help MPG's, come on, it's a light bulb....lol

"Philips EcoVision allows drivers to maximize their fuel economy. That's why Philips, the leader in automotive lighting innovation, developed EcoVision-the first headlamp bulb that can actually save gas. With an energy-saving design that consumes up to 20% less power than standard halogen bulbs. EcoVision will be first choice for drivers concerned about gas mileage and cost of ownership, as well as the environment. A bulb that saves fuel and lowers CO2 emissions also helps to reduce global warming. So if you want to save money and increase your MPG, give the world's most environmentally-friendly halogen headlight bulbs a try."

Now if you actually believe this hooey, I have a deal for you! Ya see I got this little 'Ol bridge in Brooklyn for sale, and I'll even throw in some oil wells on the moon for free...and its all yours for just 250,000 easy payments of $19.95 a month!!

OK, now that I'm done being sarcastic, I'd really like to see the testing data that proves a reduction in fuel use and carbon emissions from the use of these headlight bulbs. To say that I have my doubts about this "eco lunacy" would probably be an understatement. Forget the eco hype and get yourself a good quality set of bulbs, follow the advice on not contaminating the bulbs, and ignore the unsubstantiated claims regarding mileage and environmental impact.

X3 I have silverstars in all three of my HHR's. Both are right on the money about keeping the bulb clean. If you try to shortcut the install you WILL get dirt or something on the bulb that will shorten the life. I have silverstars in head & fogs replaced one fog bulb in 5yrs. No replacement in other HHR's

Give these guys a call. HID Pro in Orlando, FL

I had these installed 2 months ago and they are rock solid and the best money I've ever spent on a car.

Stay away from the normal headlights on the HHR.

Silverstars are a gimmick, you cant put a coating on a bulb and get MORE light out

Phillips Xtreme Power are the brightest legal high quality halogen bulbs you can get.
