Headlights cut off when signaling right turn
2007 HHR.
Last week, I was using an alternate route home at night so I had my headlights on high beam. As I approached a road I moved the turn signal indicator "up" to turn on the right turn signal and my headlights flashed off and back on again. I tried it several times and it happened consistently. I've tried it very carefully, making sure that I was exerting only upward pressure, not backward. The left turn signal does not cause the problem. Has anyone else noticed anything like that?

Bad switch? Not that is should be related, but try having the lights on and hit the 4-way flashers. Or try a right turn but grab the stem as close to the column as possible...so you are not touching the 'twisty' part at all.
Wierd either way.

A turn signal switch isn't too pricey. Here's one on ebay I saw the other day when looking for a wheel. This company is very good, many members (including me) have bought from them...

Funny thing...I was heading up town tonight, and the car behind me was changing lanes. It was a Dodge Caliber. When she turned the blinker on, the headlight cut out when the blinker was...blinking. Then came back on when it was done.

I wonder if this has something to do with "cornering lights" or the option being available and misprogrammed? It has been a while since I've seen cornering lights advertised, but could be a vestigial thing. "cornering lights" a spot light that comes on to illuminate the curb on the side that the turn signal is indicating.
