The dealer has told me they plan on inspecting for loose things, etc. as they work to ensure everything will stop buzzing and install the plastic piece. I'm encouraged, but hoping they'll keep to their word.

Anyone know how long this takes?

No, I do not have roof rail air bags (to my knowledge). However, the dealership in question has told me the repair is under recall. As stated below, they've told me they plan on inspecting wiring harnesses to ensure things are affixed correctly.

According to this, cars affected do not have roof rail air bags.

General Motors stepped up and sent a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration informing them of a defect with the Chevrolet HHR that could pose a head injury risk. After testing the retro-wagon back in December, it was discovered that vehicles not equipped with the optional "roof rail" airbags fail to meet the fed's crash standards. The recall affects 181,516 2006-2008 HHRs and Chevrolet dealers will begin installing an energy-absorbent piece of plastic to the headliner on all affected models next month.

Should be in and out the same day. Depends on the dealers work load. The wiring harness repair is around an hour, if that is what is rattling.

I had a rattle in mine just behind the drivers seat. It took two tries to get it fixed. They finally fixed it by taking it down and re gluing a support brace that had come undone. The car smelled like glue for 3 days afterwards.

So it had new car smell again? Because I have always been told the "new car smell" came from the adhesives.

They started my car around 7:30 this morning, I was one of the first ones in the bay! Hopefully, my 3 PM target holds.
