Heads up display (or whatever it is called) & OnStar*

I had to use my Onstar yesterday, due to me running out of gas. I know i was stupid to let this happened...

I have noticed once the gas level gets to about 80 miles left, it reads "Low Fuel". I didn't drive that far, but it doesn't change and let you know how many miles are left!

Onstar was great! I waited about 40 minutes and had someone there with fuel. I made it to a gas station and filled up! So no more getting under a quarter tank.... Live and Learn!

Didn't the additional audible signals give you a clue??

I think if you rest the "Low Fuel" warning you can get back to the "Miles-To-Go" feature? Can't say for sure as I'm STILL waiting on delivery of my HHR, but I'm someone should be able to confirm or refute this?

Nope. Once you get to low fuel, that's all you get. At least on ours it is that way.

If you keep driving while on "low fuel", you'll get at least two audible chimes reminding you and the DIC will revert to "low fuel" display.

I have AAA and Roadside Assistance available through my insurance and cell companies, and was gonna quit OnStar today until I read this:

and what are you to do if you where ever in a area with no cell phone towers or you phone battery died?

you call onstar through the car. just push the button on the mirror. Onstar's signal strength is about 7 times that of a normal cell tower (that's what the dealer told me at least) I don't know what towers they run off of though, seems like if places can do no charge roaming on your cell, they should work the same way. S you should be able to get a signal almost anywhere.

On*Star uses Satellite not cell phone towers
