hello from CT...question about rattle in headliner

Hello everyone! I just traded my '02 PT Cruiser (with bad piston rings, radiator, front end, brakes and rear defroster...yep, it fell apart) for an '07
2LT. So far I love it. However, I have one small problem that I need an opinion on.

It has a vibration/rattle in the right side of the passenger compartment, seemingly coming from the headliner. Would anyone know of an easy fix for it? It appears that the headliner could be a bit loose.

Has anyone come across this?

I took my 07 in for a headliner rattle and they found a loose support piece (cross brace) that had to be re glued back into place. The rattle has not returned since.

Welcome. Mine had a rattle on the drivers side of the headliner. They dropped the headliner and found multiple problems/rattles actually. It's quiet now and I'm much happier.

fixed my headliner rattle in 2 minutes...driving all the way to the dealer is up to you...I stuffed a home-made velcro shim in there, and have been rattle free for months(6k miles) now.

the only time the dealer will see my car, is when I go there to pick my girlfriend up from work...

granted, you have a warranty...but my time is worth more to me, than relying on a dealer to fix something I can do myself.

found it!

There is apparently 2 velcro fasteners in there...I just looked. In opening the sunroof, I was able to fasten the one that was loose. The other one seems to have had the glue dry up. Ironically, that wasn't the side that was noisy!

Interestingly, the rattle returned later in the day. Upon returning to the scene of the crime, I found a small plastic piece bouncing around in there. Upon taping it down, no more rattle. I also reinforced the bond in the velcro and reattached the other velcro piece that had come off the headliner (due to the glue drying up). So far so good...I hope!

Thanks for the help and the nice welcoming! Looking forward to the discussions. Looks like this forum will be a great reference for things to come.
