Why would the gas caps be different between models? That doesn't make any sense!

i don't know why either. You can check for yourself on kragen.com or autozone.com There are two different models for the gas caps. I know, it is weird.

Maybe on the gas cap there is a reference to fuel type? 2.4 recommending premium?

Just checked my 2.4...no reference to premium. There is a little picture of a book opened with an "i" on the opened page. I guess that means look in the owners manual for information?

Are you sure you have the 2.4, I remember when I saw Karens and yours jay that their was that sticker on the inside of the hood on the drivers side I think that said all the info on the motor. Basically what everone said before me. lol

It's got nothing to do with which motor on the gas caps, I jusr remember that before people were having trouble find ANY locking caps that fit right, the door wouldn't close all the way.

Actually, they changed the 2.2 for '07, here is a members pic of his '07. I have seen this personally, the biggest difference on the valve cover is that the 2.2's don't have "VVT" under the "ecotec" on the valve cover.

As I mentioned way back when, I traded a '99 GMC Sonoma (S-10) for the HHR. I had a GM locking gas on it which the salesman swapped for the regular cap on the HHR. It fit with no problem So go figure!
