"We are also seeing a lot of Cash for Clunkers repo's. "
I thought that cash for clunkers could not be resold ! Only to a scrap yard, with engine & trans sized up with something poured into them. I see alot of them at the junk yards here in central florida.

What I was thinking, I'd be more concerned about 'other' tunes and upgrades,,theres alot of people out there experimenting and not quite getting it right....effects of bad tunes may not show up for years, then its too late. So I'd prefer a factory tune instead if I were in the market, unless I knew wht where and who about whats been done. And who knows what lkind of abuse these tunes saw....strip time? Street racing?Showing off in parking lots? Who's to know?

take a wild guess what my 2006 HHR 2LT is worth w/ 100,086 miles on it as of today?
I'll give you a hint-
no dealer wants to give a dime for it on trade in
no finance company would finance one to a new(used) buyer
I still owe more than twice its value
buyers beware...when rent-a-car's enter the used car market, your car drops in value if it is of the same model.
a comparison:
a 2008 Mercury grand Marquis LS is close to $40k brand new
now, with 15k miles on one, it is worth approx $10k 2 model years later.
I paid $14,800 for my 2LT in 2009(actually, 12.31.08) w/ 32k on the clock-and it was actually the lowest priced one I could find.
it's worth about $2800 as a trade in or maybe $5500 private party. clean, well-maintained, and fully loaded with no flaws(mild paint chips in front bumper) but those 6 digits on the odometer really killed it.

I was infatuated with my HHR for the first 6 months or so...that feeling wore off, and it got sort of old...cramped, long commutes...as a second car, it would be great...but for my long commutes, I need more comfort, and sadly, this little putt-putt cannot provide it for me.
But hey...my hole, my shovel, my bed.

Appraiser that worked for a local dealer told me that the first thing he did when checking out a potential trade in was to check the radio presets. If they were all rock stations, then he knew the trans was shot.
