HHR 20th Least Expensive to Insure

At least according to this website:

http://www.insweb.com/auto-insurance...-vehicles.html

Not sure I agree with ALL of their findings, however. My '08 Vette is $19/year cheaper than the HHR.

Not sure about this one either, I have been checking around for some new insurance here lately, and it all basically depends on what the insurance company list the HHR as. For some its a car, sport wagon, truck, or even a suv. At least one place told me that it carried the same rating as a Corvette, and mine is not a SS. I also went through this few years ago with my Colorado, if it had been a Extreme, the insurance would have been double, but I had basically the same truck, just without the body kit, go figure.

That would help explain why mine is $66 a month to insure! Well, that and the multi car discount!

Don't agree either with their lists.

I pay almost the exact same as I did on my former '98 S-10
& am Heavily covered.. They said the HHR Panel is much safer..

No complaints, about $300 yr. with $50. deductable (edit) with multi-car & bikes discount..

Insurance has a lot to do with the type of driver as well. It says the Kia Sedona is supposedly the cheapest to insure. Well, it sort of makes sense because your average soccer mom doesn't go 90 down the highway in her minivan. I don't get why the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner are different prices, they are basically the same vehicle... It seems weird that the GMC Yukon, Chevy Avalanche, and Chevy C1500 are more expensive to insure. They're not exactly racecars. Notice the Chrysler PT Loser is the sixth cheapest to insure. Probably because they're so crappy and cheap to begin with that the insurance wouldn't have to pay out much if one was totalled. I don't think PT Losers are worth that much $$$. It seems like dealerships are practically giving them away and people still don't buy them. I have to pay $90 a month since I'm not 25 yet.

Auto insurance companies usually have their heads up their butts.. Decades ago the Ford Maverick (for old timers who remember) had a Maverick Grabber option wiich was esstentially a body style kit that came with a base I-6 engine. You could upgrade the engine to a 305 V8 (I think) and other performance options to make it a screamer. But if you had the base car with those same options the insurance was as cheap as the base Maverick. But if you had the base Grabber, the inurance was high.

Same with a Biscayne Chevy w a 409 V8.. a base car with big engine cheap to insure, but an Impala SS 409 expensive to insure.

It's not all about engines and speed options. How often a certain model is stolen has a lot to do with insurance costs also.

Well I know the Gecko said I would have to pay more for an LS HHR, because it had no ABS brakes at that time.

So I'm rather pleased to have my 2LT Panel (1 of only 266) & pay less for ins.
