If you think of the HHR as a Cobalt station wagon it is less of a mystery.

Yes, part of the performance package. Might have been standard on 2010 model year manuals, but I don't think so. My memory is less than perfect.

Although I have read some SS auto owners say they lay down twin stripes of rubber when they nail it.

I have an auto and if I shut off the traction control it does launch straight vs with the traction control on. Never noticed if I left two tire marks.

Correct, mine doesn't. You have to really hold on, sort of a point and stab and then hope that it keeps going in the direction you pointed it. I'm gonna put a Quaife (https://www.quaife.co.uk/) when I pull the engine just not on the important list. I won't let my wife drive the car, she would wad it up.

Dr Loch your have a manual or an automatic ?
Also that's why I shut the traction control off to keep it straight. When a tire slips with it on makes the car dart side to side. It is fun when I drive it like that. Hold on baby, we're going for a ride.

Well I've owned my 2LT Panel since 2009, it is White, & it gets cool very quick & stays cooler than the wifes Mopar. Not noisy either. Panel is the ticket for me.

And the rear door poppers work fine, never an issue with them.. Good ride.
