HHR CarMax Price
Anyone been to CarMax (in the last month or two) and know a general ball park on what they are offering on an '06 LTauto/like new/30k right now? Outright purchase, not trade-in value.
Currently am trying to sell private and just wanted to know how good/bad the CarMax option might look. I expect it to be low, but was hoping for a concrete number from any other member that might have tried. Thanks.

Just go there. I took a Jeep there one time and I was giving a quote. And I just walked away, after they gave me $ figure. You have I think 10 days or xx amount of mileage to decide if you want to take their offer.

I used to work there. The purchase offer is the same offer they'll give you if you trade the vehicle to them for another. The buyer's group and the sales group are completely separate operations and are often very exasperated with each other.
I would look at what '06s are going for on their website, see how much they're taking off the KBB value, then take that much off the KBB trade-in value for fair condition. Every store is going to be different because the buyer's consult the local and regional Manheim's values and the condition of your individual vehicle, but I found the above method was a good predictor of what they'll offer. They only make 6% on each vehicle IF they resell it, compared to 25% at other used car lots, so they are very aggressive on purchase offers.
I'm willing to bet $6500-$8000 based on age and mileage.
