HHR is dead
Well on my way to work and a guy "t-bones" me and drives me into another guy at a stop sign (both trucks) pretty sure its totaled........Full moon hub caps gone Brand new driving lights gone..... so I guess Im gonna start over...
I will be looking at the SS model this time and was wandering if anyone had any information on the long term road tests?
found one with 92K miles and am a little leary of the turbo and how it holds up any information would be helpful..
also if anyone knows of any inhearent problems with the SS model it would be good to know to help with negotiation power....thanks again

First things first Dustin, I'm really glad you're OK.
HHR's can be replaced, people can't, so take your time searching for another ride.
I'm sure that the SS guys will chime in with info and warnings for what to avoid, but make sure you do a CarFax on anything you're considering at the very least.

if it were me i wouldnt buy a SS with that high of mileage unless it was really cheap ($7k or $8k) its worth the extra monthly payment to not worry about turbo's going and such. i would find one thats still under the powertrain warranty.
with 30,000 miles on it or so. 92,000 is a long time for someone else (or multiple owners) to beat on it.
glad you're ok

Sorry about your HHR, Dustin.
Good luck in finding the right HHR for you.
I just did a Auto Trader search for HHR SS's centered around your town. Quite a few within a few hundred miles of you. Lots with very low miles...
Here's just one:
About 120 miles away from you....45k miles on it $16,771 ask price.

stock the autos are down on power in first and second compared to the manuals
But I would not say they are disappointing considering the modded ones are running better times faster equals not so disappointing.

Hey folks. This thread is about Dustin and his unfortunate accident. Let's not rehash that auto vs stick thing again. Give it a rest. Please.
Dustin. Glad you're OK. Take your time and find a car that suits you.

There is nothing wrong with the auto and with the GM upgrade they are pretty amazing.
It is a matter of what you want and neither are an issue.
As for buying one I would look for one with the lowest miles as you can afford. Also look for one unmodified unless it is the GM upgrade.
The lower the miles the better chance it was cared for. You could tell by the tires is they are OE yet and how they are worn. As for the mods. Many guys do a good job but some don't it is hard to tell how well they are done unless you can see how they are documented. Going stock lets you make your own changes and no worrys from past errors.

You are right fireman I should not have bit on that one .
My best advice is that in my opinion I would not buy one unless it was gm certified.
That way you will get a 12 month 12000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and it will come in handy.
Also try to buy one with no mods.
I have seen plenty for sale gm certified for not much more than a non certified sometimes less.
Besides the warranty you get 2 years of oil changes free.
