HHR duplicate keys

Having just bought a preowned 07 HHR, I received just one key and remote. Went to Home Depot for a duplicate and they did not have any blanks. Price though was $49.00 when available. Have I been under a mushroom for awhile?

Any suggestions for getting dups and (remote)other than the dealer appreciated?? Live in Bradenton, FL near Tampa

Call your local Lock Smith/Shop or check ebay.

I got the same with my used 2LT but I did get the second remote. I got my second key from the Chevy dealer for $28 cut and ready to go....... (I know you said "other than the dealer") For some reason the dealer said my 2007 used a different blank than the other years of HHR and had to order it in..... I say this because they may or may not all be the same.

Price is high due to anti-theft built into new car keys. If you haven't had a new car in a while it's a bit of sticker shock on keys

Try ebay, I got a new key blank and new remote for under $20 each a couple years ago. I did have to pay the dealer about $30 to program them after I had the key cut. If you go this route make sure the part numbers match up because there are 2 different remotes one with remote start and one without.

I believe that there is an easy procedure to match the new key to the car, check the manual. 2007 I'm not sure about the remote programming.

Remotes need to be programmed by the dealer, but keys are easy. I got an extra one for$18, dealer cost from the salesman who sold me the car. To program the key, just run the car with the original key, shut it off, and immediately start it with the new key.
