They did a Belair Retro show car a few years back. It was not pretty.

Now on the other hand they did a Nomad SHow car in RWD that realy looked sweet.

But GM already has it's hands full on where to take the new Camaro on the smaller Alpha platform in 2014-15.

Do any of you think there will be any HHR's 20 years from now driving around? It worries me that we will slowly lose classic cars until everybody owns new cars. I just don't see there being a restoration market for cars of today in the future.

Well, most cars that are restored are/were collectible or sought after when they were first made. I really doubt the HHR will be any more collectible than my Lumina. That's why you don't see many "regular" family sedans from the 70's or 80's.

I think cars you may see from today, would be like the Camaro or Corvette.

I'm not talking only HHR here. Pickup trucks were nothing more than a work tool back in the 50s-60s. They have since been restored and collected 20-30 years down the road. The pickups of today I do not think they will stand a chance.

Trucks, eh, that's a tough one. Occasionally you see some nice 80's trucks like mine at car shows, but very few. The only ones from the 90's you see yet at least are customized ones. My grandpa has a '91 Silverado he bought new that only has 40k miles on it, never once been in the snow! Still even smells new!

I really don't see much of a future in collecting domestic FWD cars.

There may be some future Civic resto's, but that's about it. Performance cars are where the money is, and unfortunately by the time the HHR SS came out GM had already ignored the HHR to death.

2011 ordering ends soon

Hi all, I've been a reader of these posts but this is my first writing. Have a 2010 since May and decided to get another one before they disappear. I wanted to order a matching one and give my wife mine. After checking with two dealers I am being told that the orders are being limited to one dealer as of next Tuesday and the end of November to the other. I was hoping to get one winter under my belt (snowy WISCONSIN) before ordering in the early spring. Anybody else hear this?

I have not seen dates but it is not unusual for a company to shut down a line mid year or early.

Often the need to finish up the present line so they can retool the line for the new car by next July.

I would say if you want to order the sooner the better. Otherwise you will have to pick one from the lots.

There is not going to be a lot of collector cars at all. Many are going to be too expensive to repair or difficult to keep on the roads. It is hard enough now to get parts for the interior of a 70's and 80's Monte Carlo imagine what it would be like for car of today and their many electronic parts that may not be around in 25 years.

Civics are like most FWD cars disposible. I have seen some old Civics out west but here in the Mid West many are rusted away or to the point not worth the cost to rebuilt.

Junk yards anymore just don't keep cars around like they used to. Anymore it is get them in pick em and get them out.

Canmaro.s Vette's and Mustangs will always have enough following for repo parts but most other cars will suffer.

Right now the T top gasket seal for a drivers side of a Fiero can sell for over $1000 because there are so few left. It only gets worse if you have a Z/24 or other car that has a low number or demand for a part.
