Waiting for restoration...

Gorgeous!

Another diamond in the rough...

Well whattaya know, YELLOW!

LOW-RI-DUH!

Which inspired the car that Chevy makes today.

PS:

I'm glad the similaries end at the interior!

Don't forget that Plymouth made a 49 Suburban too...
Here's an idea: make the next generation PT Cruiser a take-off on these.
Complete with visor and Chrome strips. They could call it the CHR (Chrysler High Roof)

this what comes to my mind, this how I remember them.

When I grew up in the early fifties, we had a neighbor that had a red sedan delivery like this one.
It had red wheels with those hubcaps. No wide whites, this was strictly utilitarian.

Growing up my father had a '56 F100 panel. God I loved that truck. 292 V8, 3 on the tree. He bought it new and sold it a month before I turned 16.

Nice job posting those pics. It's pretty cool seeing the old style look.

Im sure our attraction to those old ones has a bearing on what makes us appreciate the new HHR.

Im bored at work today (I ran out of 49's on Google images), so here are some examples of the 1950 flavor. Wonder if there are any differences between the two years? I can't see any.

Here's a '50 Chevy resting in peace somewhere in western Kentucky, patiently waiting for someone to come along and restore it... or make a parts car out of it more'n likely.

Could use some new upholstery, eh?
