HHR key FOB

Can you re-program a Ford key FOB to a Chevy HHR? Also if not does anyone know the part number for a 2011 HHR key FOB. I see they have them on ebay but don't know the part number. Also does anyone have programming instructions for the FOB

Thanks Bob

No, Ford is Ford-GM is GM. Programming must be done with a TechII scan tool. 3 button 2011 p/n 15777636. Check the label on your glovebox door for code AP3, that is remote start. If it's not there, your only hope of remote start is aftermarket $$$.

Use the search tool on this forum for more info than you could possibly need.

Different keyless entry systems are used on General Motors vehicles. The parts are not interchangeable even though the parts may appear to be similar. Observe the back of the transmitter in order to properly identify the system. On my 2009, GM/L: 15114374. Check ebay, many come with promgram instructions.

Hope this helps.

I to have a 2011 . It does not have the AP3 code and as mentioned no remote start like the past model years. In 2011 GM set the FOB s up so they have to be done at the dealer .. My dealer charged me 65$ for a new Key FOB and programing. IMO not too bad a price.. You should call your local dealer to find a price of a key FOB and programing from them. Then get a price on programing yours. You may be surprised that the dealer purchase w/programing may be cheaper then you supplying your key FOB to have programed..... Just my 2 cents

For any HHR the programming instructions are "go to your local GM Service department". (period). You may find a locksmith with the correct tool. The BCM (computer) has to be programmed to the fob, not the other way around.

And to restate the obvious, use the search tool for at least 100 other threads covering this topic. This is one of the most over worked subjects, next to oil topics.

Cool Broken Key Fob

Does anyone know if you can cancel the horn when you use your key to open the door instead of using the key fob? Ive looked through the DLC
settings but cant find it. Need to use the key until i receive a new FOB.

Stick the key into the ignition and start the car.
