HHR Replacement Vehicle
#21
I don't know, the Equinox leaves me cold. Its roomy, quiet, smooth, fairly perky with the 2.4, fairly punchy with the 3.0, and nicely assembled. But somewhere along the way they forgot to figure in the "fun to drive" factor that I really need to keep me interested in a vehicle. The HHR is fun to drive, say what you might about its issues with front suspension noise, the problems with the stock brake pads/rotors, and some other niggles......they always put a smile on my face, and to me that means a lot.

843... I don't know about the new Nox specifically but that is the same feeling I get from Malibu, older Nox, The Traverse, impalla. They just miss the fun factor completely. Nice cars but no fun.

The now out of production Impala SS was fun in a straight line, but after a few V-8 giggles I decided against one. The 'Vette is fun, but its not for people over about 5' 7" or so, I just don't fit in the dang things, and then there is the price. But did you ever notice the steering wheel is the same for the 'Vette and the HHR, along with the deceased Cobalt/G5? I'm just afraid that GM as a whole is getting into another product cycle where the most exciting thing about some new offerings is the choice of wheel covers.

anything new?
I still have heard no plan for GM to make a smaller wagon/hatchback/crossover. The gap in their lineup remains. I'm looking at Kia Soul if I needed to replace my HHR today.

The Orlando is available in Canada; the Chevy dealership around the corner has well over 20 of them. If it sells well around here, they may rethink their strategy regarding selling it in the US; with the high gas prices, it may have a better chance of success.
I think that it's a decent package, if not a little "bleh". It has the third row seating which I don't want or need, but I wouldn't buy one until it's sold in the US, simply because of parts availability/price down the line. Canada is a relatively small market, so some parts may become scarce or very expensive in a few years. At least now I have the choice of ordering from a US supplier if the local dealers are gauging (some parts for the HHR are 3X the US price).
I haven't driven the Equinox, but it looks like a good match for my needs (at least on paper) in a year or 2.

Personally I like the volt,it is just hard to spend 40k on a car you can buy a small house in today's market for that amount. The amp does not look to bad but like everything would have to see it sit in it etc.

A Diesel Cruze is on the way for U.S. introduction either in the 2013 model year of after the 2014 refresh of the styling. But for the moment, Cadillac will continue to be the only GM make with a wagon model for U.S. sale.
