HHR in the snow

HHR in the snow
Here in western Michigan we have already had a LOT of snow. Last Friday we got 13.5" and on my way to work, I found the limitation of the HHR in the snow. The car was trying to go even with the Michelin sport pilots on the SS, but the air dam was literaly plowing snow! I finally gave up and went back home.
Walking out to the car in the morning.
Pulled a few feet forward and backed back up. You can see where the air dam started pushing snow.
Driving down the road started building snow in front of the air dam
Couldn't go forward any more. Snow piled up to bumper, above lower grill.
After we dug out on Friday we got another foot of snow on Sunday and 40MPH winds.... Didn't even try to go out in the HHRs

This week has been my first experience with driving the HHR in deep snow(thankfully not as deep as esmarkey's).With the Firehawk GT tires on it I can see now why this thing has traction and stability control. If it had better tires it wouldn't be too bad in the white trash. It does move around a lot on snowy streets.

man i miss the snow, a lot.
Moved to Indiana and now i haven' snowboarded in a year and a half. Before this i hadn't missed a season in 11 years.
Luckily my parents have a lot on the east side (near Flint) and i am coming up there prepared on Christmas. Bringing all the snow gear (new avalanche shovel, even though i don't need it, but you know...just in case) and going snowshoeing, maybe X country, and if i can fit it in, some downhill. Although i like going up north for that, the little hills are hardly worth it, although they're better then nothing.
