Hhr ss overheating

The porosity issue was the 2008 model year 2.0 blocks.
the temperature achieved in this situation could have caused severe damage, a possible cracked cylinder head. But it’s worth a shot to burp it.

Head gaskets were replaced before I purchased it due to it overheating a couple weeks before I picked it up. Believe me, I was skeptical about buying it thinking this would turn into a money pit. I live in Southeastern OH, and I picked the car up in PA. 5hr drive from where I live and it never overheated on me driving it back home and for a few weeks.
I have burped the coolant system twice so far thinking maybe there was an air pocket. I did notice residue in the antifreeze that looks very similar to “Bar’s Leak block seal”. I only know what that stuff looks like because I used it on an old s10 of mine years ago.
I have considered taking my vehicle somewhere that’ll take the time to rule out the underlying cause, but I wanted to see if my local Chevy dealership could fix the issue first since I am paying extra for warranty.

The extended warranty that you buy from a GM dealer is NOT backed by GM; you can take it anywhere. Read the contract, sales weasels lie.
Knowing that a long highway trip did not cause overheating suggests the fan is not working. Even a nurse could tell if the fan is running when the AC is on.

Nothing burned here. Just letting you know what's correct so you can communicate your problem accurately with those warranty folks.

Air flow passed the radiator core at 65 MPH should do the job.
Yes around town stop and go traffic the fan plays an important part.
Also with the AC on.
Burping the cooling system is a good idea.
If bubbles are present all the time the head gasket area should be inspected again.
Not to say this is the problem, but maybe the head is warped and just installing a new head gasket didn't fix the original repair.
Or the head itself is cracked.
