While searching for my hitch on the internet, I do remember seeing a 1 1/4'' to 2'' adaptor for sale. That way you could use 2'' accessories. Dont remember the site though.

Rob,

etrailer.com has one. The problem is that those are pretty-much only useful for towing, as the structural compromise where the adaptation takes place exponentially lowers the amount of tongue weight to the point of near uselessness, especially since it extends the weight out further from what is effectively a fulcrum.

The right answer may be to weld a 2" to 1 1/4" adapter to the accessory itself, in effect, turning it into a 1 1/4" accessory rather than the hitch into a 2" receiver.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Here's a question. What accessory are you wanting to use here?

I know with my hitchhaul, I swapped the 2" center bar with a 1.25" one. SInce I lost the truck, no 2" reciever left. Both current vehciles have a 1.25" one. I used a 1.25" to 2" (reciever to accessory) adapter once, only once. Might be better welded on permanent, but it allowed more drop in the drawbars. Plus if you use one, they say to cut the load capacity in half due to them.

Food for though.

Here's a question I'm hoping someone can help me with...

We have a 2008 Can-Am Spyder (3-wheeled sport-bike) that we want to tow with us on vacation in a couple weeks. The Spyder weighs 700 lbs. but is 5X9 so we'll need a 6X10 trailer for it. How much does a trailer of that size weigh? I'm thinking 500 lbs. which would make the total weight in the 1200 lb. range. Is this too much for the HHR?

Thanks,

Geoff.

Here's some from Harbor Freight, but I don't think any of those will fit the bill.
