You have to do what you want. I did not search like everyone but to I seen in the paper today the same dealership I got mine has 06 for 15K and change. Of course it does not say much about it but by the MSRP they had it the paper it was a 1LT and guessing some added things.
So yes they are out there. If you do find one you like go to your closet dealer tell them where it is have the do some type of swap. Then your not running all over.

Well I have an 07 Ion 3 with the 2.4 and I love it. Saturn was a great place to buy from. And I have been avg 25-27 mpg mixed highway and city driving. Go with the one you want and can afford.

If it were me, I would wait and buy the 2007 HHR when you can afford it. Thats what I would do due to the fact that GM has greatly extended the warranty of the 2007s as opposed to the 2006s, so going with the 2007s will save you big time if you have a problem with your car within the warranty.

BTW, the HHR is way more car then the Ion Coupe is in every respect so if you can wait, wait. Get the most car for the money.

The biggest part that I keep seeing is the price difference, and I'm not sure I want to deal with first year model with my busy schedule. Plus the Ion has GM's new warranty.

Buy the one that fits your needs. If you need a vehicle that has hauling capabilities, buy that. If you can't afford it, wait until you can. Do not make a mistake and buy something else because you will probably end up trading it in for a vehicle that better meets your needs and it will cost you a great deal more than what you would have saved on the original purchase.

Sounds like you want the ion. No need to talk yourself into the HHR. THe HHR is a cool concept, but has its limitations. I think that's why it seems like the HHR attracts an older crowd. I seldom find or see people under 30 driving it and LOTS of people over 55. IMO, the ion would be more a fun car, more similar to the Ford you had before. The HHR is seemingly more of a compromise car (for family, cargo, etc.) with cool looks and some fun factor.

You present as a guy who wants more fun than fun-ctionality.
