I got the 72mths/100 K miles for $500.00, after debating the price as well.

Is that for a GM Protection Plan? I thought the GMPP major guard plan only came with 6/60. Which exact plan did you get? From the prices I have heard quoted, you got a very good price.

After looking at the paper work, I don't see a company nameI guess i will have to go pull out more paperwork, but here is what it says so far....

Mechanical Breakdown Protect
72months/100K miles
Provides cost of parts AND labor on covered repairs. Also includes towing, rental for up to 5 days, and nationwide emergency roadside assistance. FULLY TRANSFERABLE COVERAGE.

then it goes on about the gap insurance it says the total for both insurance and warranty I paid $528.35

I will try to find out more on it......this sheet is just a print out from the dealer.

I don't think that is a GM plan but still sounds interesting. That is a good price if it covers all major mechanical repairs.

it has nothing that says so-so company, it just refers back to "the dealer", so to be honest I really have no clue. I guess if anything happens I will have to take it back to the dealer. That is really crappy that I dont know, I'm going in for the oil change so I'll ask them.

I've seen these types of extended warranties before and they can sometimes be a little tricky. Many dealers contract outside of their respective manufactures with a third party company that sells extended warranties which is actually an insurance policy. These policies are often times less expensive than manufacture warranties but the coverage can sometimes get a bit sticky, read the fine print. Sometimes these coverages are very limited although they look good until you have to use them. Many of them also stipulate that all work has to be done at the dealership where you bought the car, because they are not "Manufacture" warranties.

I know of a guy who had one of these "Extended Warranties" and had problems with his A/C. He took his car to the dealership and they gave him the runaround. Seems his compressor went bad but they wouldn't cover it's replacement although his warranty did say it covered all major components. As it turned out, there was some fine print that said it did not cover wear items like seals, hoses, etc.. The problem with his car was that a seal (on an A/C hose) had gone bad allowing the freon and lubricant to escape causing his compressor to lock up. Since a non covered item caused the problem and not a faulty compressor, his warranty would not cover the repair.

Hope you have a better "Extended" Warranty.

It is gmpp. We got our quote directly from them to save time going thru our dealership.
