HID Headlights

Has anyone tried these? If not, any suggestions on another brand?

Another thought on the lighting process...anyone ever rigged one of these setups in the tailgate of an HHR? Would there be enough clearance? Might look kinda cool if it was done right.

I bought a 55w slim kit from ddmtuning.com (6000k) and they are REALLY bright. The light is not as weak as the ebay hids, they are really high quality and VERY well priced. I've tried many different setups but these are the ones that have kept me the happiest. :)

I'll try and get some pictures so you can see for yourself.

Was it a horror story to install, or do you have some tips & tricks? I've never even replaced the front bulbs in my HHR, but have had some not so happy owners say that it's somewhat difficult to reach the bulbs. I would imagine that HIDs would compound the issue. Any secrets?

Just look at my pics you'll see mine, I've had them for 2 years installed now. They are a pain in the ARSE to install, I finally cut a slit in my fender-well to have easier access to them. Stupid design by GM's standard....

It is a horrible place to work with, especially because you have to mount a ballast and deal with wires and not messing up your bulb. There is so much limited space. I used to have the Apexcone hids, but one shattered, so I bought the ddm tuning slim kit. The old ballast that I had got loose and was sitting inside my front bumper, so when I got my new set of lights, I decided to take off the entire bumper, then look for a nice place to secure the new ballast. Since I was worrying about the bulb touching, I went ahead and took off the lamp and put the bulb in first, then dealt with the wiring. Then I just put everything back together and thats pretty much it.

Heres the pics btw

Here are some other pics that I found

You can see where I mounted the ballast [black rectangle]

I kinda like how it looks without the bumper...

Looks like I've got some fun ahead of me. I ordered the same 55w slim kit, only in 5000K, earlier today. If I remember, I'll post up a how-to
