HID Install

For those of you wanting to install HID's on your HHR but aren't sure how much work it is...it's pretty easy. I installed HID's in the headlight and foglight housings and it probably took a whole 45 minutes. Some say it's best to take off the bumper....I don't think so, take the wheel off, remove 3 screws and 3 plastic plugs from the plastic wheel well and you have full access to both housings. Wiring was very simple and there is even a bracket already there to mount the ballast to. I kept putting it off because I thought it was going to be difficult, believe me it's not and I now wish I would have done it a long time ago...I also wish I would have done a Step by Step guide on doing it. And yes I know some say they are illegal...yeah yeah

I chose to go with just a low beam kit for two reasons...1. I never use high beam on any car I drive...2. Since I decided to also install them in the fog lights I figured that would make up for not having the high beam. I have delt with a guy on EBAY on many HID kits in the past. I have always used the Xentec brand with no problems and these kits were the 35w 5000k (H13-headlights & H10-foglights) with a slim ballast. Only tricky part is the headlights, with the single beam you have 2 prongs coming off the lights and the plug on the HHR has places for 3. You have to pick the right 2 places for the red & black wire from the lights to go into for them to work right. If you'd like the sellers name let me know, has great communication and 2 year warranty which I took advantage of only one time in the past with no issues. Have driven two nights with them in so far and not one person has flashed me...and have already received a couple compliments!

If I get a chance I'll do a Step by Step...can't believe I didn't do it while actually installing them.

They look great in that pick. Can you take a pic with them facing a wall?

The HOW TO Is finally done and posted under the HOW TO section. It's a 2 parter, first part for Single beam install...the 2nd part is for a HI/LO install. Check it out, I hope it makes it easy for some of you to go by and get the HID kits you always wanted installed.

I had it all under one posting but I didn't realize you were limited to only 15 photos in a post...maybe the moderators can combine these two posting from their end?
