I believe you are correct. I had a '96 Achieva, and those 4 cylinders were related to the Iron Duke (?) and Quad-4 engines. That's my recollection.

My '07 2.2L has 36,000 on it. Those miles were put on in 18 months. I tend to run my vehicles 100,000+ miles. The 2.2L Ecotec is a highly rated engine and should have no trouble exceeding 100,000 miles with regular maintenance, some love and attention. My '03 Impala (3800 Series II) was running strong at 118,000, but decided it wanted some transmission work. Would normally have fixed it, but decided it was a good excuse to get the HHR!

My '08 has 68,000, the first 17,000 as a rental in Fla.. I have had absolutely no operational problems, just bad experiences with Mr. Goodwrench. I did replace shocks and struts and tires recently.

On Topic Content - My HHR just rolled into 1114 miles last night (934 miles are mine).
After owning it for 56 hours.
That's 17MPH for the duration of ownership.
What'll that work out to in 10 years?
I think it's pretty cool looking but it does lack the retro styling that the HHR has, although I don't think that's quite what the GM design team had in mind.It is perhaps a future look at what an HHR might look like 10 years from now and maybe that's the look they were going for?

We bought our Shadow Edition Aug.18th last year, it only has 2000 miles on it. But.....we are getting ready to go on vacation, so that will change soon....

tim tenn and snoopy,
You guys are probably right about the engines being different. Don't know my engines from a hole in the ground. Do know a little about trumpets, cornets and the like. And I love the engine in my HHR. Can't complain with only 26k. Thanks for the heads up.

A local dealer just sold the 4th HHR to a courier service that trade to new every year, they average 100,000 a year.

We just recently purchased our HHR when we finally had to trade in our 2002 GMC Envoy. I average over 40K miles a year just commuting back and forth to work. When we rolled into the dealership to trade it in, the Envoy had 272,613 miles on it. Unfortunately though, it had developed a rather ominous knocking in the engine block just that morning. Once I heard that I knew it was time to give it up. I only had four months of payments left on it, afterwhich I was planning to keep it and buy an HHR.

When we bought the Envoy used in 2003, it had 24,000 miles on it. During the time we had it the only major repairs were a water pump (at 170K), an alternator (at about 271K), and the air conditioner. Unfortunately, the A/C never actually did get repaired, another reason why I'm really happy to have a new car!

Prior to the Envoy, we had a 1998 Chevy Blazer that we traded in at 136K. Other than regular maintenance, we never had to make any repairs. It was still running great, I was just concerned about the mileage.

Our HHR is my forth GM product. In my experience, GM's are just as capable of going the distance as anything else out there. Maybe even more so.

87K on my 06 LT2 and only issue I've had is the rotors. I'm a firm believer in break in like you drive it and stay on top of oil changes. From day one I've drove mine like I stole it.

I have 338.000 just had to replace alternator last year but other than tires shocks and front upper/control arms and door parts that wore out on my panel door I use 50x a day...I can't say enough good things about these cars...
