High output alternator
#21
The stock alternator, being pin-wound as has been mentioned, is a pretty efficient unit, and there's no way to rewind to get more out of the existing frame size, and the pad mounting arrangement on these is going to make it difficult to fit a larger frame alternator in the same spot, but an adapter bracket that goes on the same mounts, and locates a more traditional lug-mount further away from the block would be possible.
Word of warning about these rewound units - it's a fundamental of the design that there's a tradeoff between maximum output, speed at which you start to get any output, and efficiency, improve any one, and one of the others will suffer. That limit is dependent on the amount of material in the magnetic circuit, so if you want more of these, you need a bigger alternator, or spin it faster, so that it runs further up the curve (dependent on the maximum speed limit, based on both the bearings' ratings and the speed at which the rotor claws deflect outwards)

Not in electronics but incommon sense I`am.A 300 amp alternator on a small 4 cylinder is overkill and hard on the system.

How old are you it`s like talking to my 26 year old.
No you did not indorse the 300 amp. you went for the 260 because you are certified in mobile electronics. What does a 40 amp.differance have to do with anything that I have posted.I`am sure you will have a qualified answer for me and I look forward to reading it.

how old are you? you spelled endorse with an "i"...let me pose this question to you before i move further in wasting my time. why would the 300A alternator create a load on the engine? what factors play a part in this? answer that and i will give you an answer because as of right now you are ahead of the curve in one equation, but i know you have no clue why.
Want to talk about spelling better start worring about your own first.
Q: why would the 300A alternator create a load on the engine.
A: You got to be kidding no one that is certified in mobile electronics would ask that.So let me give you the short verson if you don`t have a load on your alternator it`s not producing any amps.a factory alternator takes 5 HP from the engine.
Keep it coming don`t stop with your post this is very entertaining
