Homelink Sunvisor options

Hello,
Homelink is a IR device that is used to open your garage, turn on lites, or home security systems.Homelink Home Page

So bought a Chrysler Cirrus Grey Homelink sunvisor off ebay. The link device is smaller and thinner than a deck of cards and only has 2 wires. Power and a ground. Has 3 programable buttons.

I have thought of several mounting options for the device.

1.) Install the link in the stock HHR visor. (not sure if it will fit yet)
2.) Install the link in the middle headliner. Like where the sunroof controls are and would look more stock.
3.) Or on the side console.

A Gentex mirror has homelink but no map lites. plus it way to costly for me as a upgrade. My homelink visor was $25.

no sunroof? put it in the headliner

you could also take off that existing cover and mount it from behind(read inside) the console to where only the buttons are exposed.

I think I'll look at doing this. I'll wire it to an ignition hot wire so it can only be used if the key is in the ignition. Don't want to have someone get in by breaking a window and pushing a buton when the car is sitting in the driveway at night. Corvette gets garage HHR gets the driveway. No room for 2 and we use the garage as our main entry to the house.

It's a very convenient option. I have one in my '98 Windstar. It always has power so it won't fail due to a dead battery, unless the car battery dies.

many 95-98 Lincoln Mark VIII's came with a HOMELINK option, in case anyone wants to scour ebay for their visors.

There is another easy option too. Buy the portable HomeLink and clip it where you want it located. Use it in your other vehicles because it is portable.

See the available models at:

The visor clip on model at:

I decided to get a small key chain activator. I don't want anything in my car to open my garage door without me in it.
