Hope alls well with our Southern members

I was just amazed with the video footage shown of the flooding in Nashville on this evening news. I Just want to give a shout and a prayer to our members there and the other Southern states that been ravaged by floods and tornadoes lately. Hope you and your loved ones are safe and well..

Thank you Frank, Mike and Mowgli for your payers and well wishing. I live less then a mile from the Opry House and about 3/4 of a mile from the Cumberland River in three different directions but my house was spared, however most that live in the three neighborhoods behind me didn’t fair as well. It is so heartbreaking to see people loose every thing they own. One of my brothers lives on the other side of town close to the Harpeth River and the floods took everything they own, the water was chest high in the second story of his families home. He and his wife were out of town but one of his daughters is living with them with her two small boys. A next-door neighbor got them awake and out at three in the morning before the first floor was completely flooded. She said there were only seven steps going down stairs that didn’t have water covering them when she was awakened. They all got out with harm and that is really the only thing that matters.

The news is calling this a “Thousand Year Flood” but the sad thing is, there is no truth in that statement at all. The Cumberland River covered my property in 1975 when it flooded Operland, but my house and all the neighborhoods behind me were not built at that point in time. I know this because I did my own research before I purchased the house, so I got flood insurance even though I am not in a floodplain. Thinking back on all the floods that the Harpeth River has had and knowing some of levels the water went to I now know my bothers house has been flooded at some point in the past, probably the late 1970s. Most of the areas that were flooded didn’t have Hugh amounts of homes built on the land during the floods of the 1970s and since they are not in floodplains most people do not get flood insurance even though they are very close to the scenic beauty of the rivers.

Again I would like to give a big Tennessee Thank You for all those prayers and good thoughts.

It's hard to watch on the news. Really devastating..
My bud lives up in Smyrna & he said his place was spared too.
