How LOUD is your motor?

Yeah, how loud is it?

2.4, auto, 2LT

When mine is cold, for the first few minutes it sound like you can hear lifters and the air intake. I think some by-pass is open until it warms up. The air sucking sound is always there if I put my foot into it.
It runs like a champ, no problem there, just loud. It's done this since day one (over a year ago now), but then I get in my wife's Accord and it's nice and quite, even if you floor it. Mine when you floor it sounds like a Cosworth motor, and it does GO, GO, GO!

Just wondering if yours sounds like that, cold or hot. Should I be concerned or just ignore it?

I don't know about the air sucking noise, but the 2.4 was a loud motor compared to the 2003 Accord I had previously. The 2.0L turbo motor is much smoother, although you can't say it's really quiet or anything when you get on it, but I wouldn't want it to be too quiet .

Gosh, I came from a '99 V6 S10 and compared to that, thought this car sounded like a hairdryer! In fact, I forgot it was on a few times it was so quiet.

The CGS gives it a little purring sound and that I like.

i do not consider it at all loud , or any type of lifter or any other. but what i do notice , mostly at the end of my 270 mile route is vibration , it could just be me, but i still wonder if something is a little off.

My Vibe was much louder. Four bangers have it in their blood.
Some Companies do a better job of isolating and dampening though. Our HHR is quieter than a lot of fours.
I still find it louder than I want, but I'm a Buick guy, so what do I know?

I use my remote start in the cold and sometimes when I walk up to it, I can't hardly hear the engine running. It's one of the quietest engines I've ever owned.

I know what you're talking about. I thought it was a recent development but when its cold it sounds like rod knock or an exhaust leak. Frightening!

It runs louder when it's cold, that is perfectly normal.

Mine is nicely quiet at idle but has a cool roar when I get on it hard-haven't discerned yet whether it's from the intake or exhaust. The starter sounds terrible when engaging, very harsh.
