How many of you undercoat your hhr

I had my HHR rust/sound proofed at my dealer. They use the vesco system. I had them run the black sound/rust proofing on the underbody, which is like rhino lining and the same stuff they we already have in our wheel wells. Then the liqued vasoline in all the doors. Carrys a great warrenty as long as you get it inspected. $399

If you can find it...Dinitrol, or AV-8 works great inside doors and seem areas..it comes in spray form.....impervious to moisture...seeps ( wicks) into non accessible areas where normal rust proofing doesnt.........can be used undersides too..dries into a film that resists most everything

In a sense, I understand the concept...but I don't understand how it would work on cars. It'd work if you were underwater or something, but not getting sprayed with salt...

When I was 18, I bought a brand new car (Horizon TC3) and had it Ziebart rustproofed.
Worst thing I ever did to a car IMO.
When I picked up the car from the dealer, under the hood was all nice shiny painted orange sheetmetal, the bottom of the car was the same- it made me want to park on a mirror.
When I picked the car up from Ziebart, under the hood was all thick gunky tar, as well as underneath. Since they sprayed that stuff in the doors, my speakers were ruined and the would not replace them.
No idea how long it would have lasted, as after a year it got flooded in the apartment's parking lot, 12 inches of water inside the car. I sold it shortly after.
A few years later, I bought a 76 Vega wagon, a one owner Michigan car, never rustproofed, and it was still shiny under the hood and underneath, not a rust bubble anywhere. I asked the seller how they kept it so clean, and they told me they never washed it once the salt trucks came out. It seems that the salt is more corrosive if wet.
When I get back home I'll dig out some pics of that Vega, it was pretty nice.

So don't wash it in the winter? Hmmm...
I washed my last 2 leases every week thru the winters... however, I do it in a heated garage to dry them out. They both were rustin in the doors by year 2.
