How to remove fuel injector

Hey guys it's always a pleasure to come to this site you have all been very helpful to me. I own to HHR's, one is an SS. I'm having a problem with my 2006 LT. I'm getting a code P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. I tried to remove the fuel injector for cylinder number 1 today but I decided to stop because I don't know exactly what I'm doing. When I pulled the injectors out of the engine they were still attached to the fuel rail. I got a little bit confused as to how to actually remove the injector from the metal fuel rail. Actually I have two questions, the first one is do you think that code I mentioned is because of the injector being bad? I already swapped coil packs around and changed all four spark plugs and I'm still getting that check engine light with the same code. My other question is how do I remove the fuel injector from the fuel rail? Do I use a screwdriver and forced It off? Thanks again for your help. Cheers!

By this video all you have to do is pull the injector out of the rail with your hand.
Have you done a compression check?
What did #1 spark plug look like compared to the rest of them?

The injectors are held into the fuel rail with metal clips, remove those then pull out the injector.
The code could be a number of things, check them all first before changing parts

That picture is an injector for DI. I think the procedure is a bit different.

I was hoping I could find pictures, but no.

This procedure does not mention the cups that are in the block. Mine had lots of carbon locking them in, it took real force to get them out. They come in the seal kit.

The matal bits are the clips that hold the injector on the rail, the small O-rings come with the new injectors.

I thought all HHR's are where DI.

Did try on YouTube to find an injector replacement for the HHR but couldn't find one. The clip is a no drainer to remove, use slip joint pliers if need be, then pull the injector out of the fuel rail by hand.

Only the SS is DI, the others are multi-port.
