Since you didn't give any details of how your's is equipped, (don't take this the wrong way), but, what does it say on the rear hatch door ?
LS---basic with 2.2
LT---either 1LT or 2LT depending on options
SS---Performance model

Welcome to the forum. As others have mentioned you can check the sticker in the glove box or the rear hatch to see if you have an LS, LT, or SS. Another way you can check is based on engine size or vehicle options.
For example:
LS- 2.2L is the only engine available.
1LT- 2.2L is standard, but 2.4L is optional.
2LT- 2.4L is standard.
SS- came with the 2.0L turbocharged engine.
If you're wondering how to check and see which engine you have, look for the emissions sticker under the hood and it will tell you the engine your HHR came equipped with.
For example:

Found this place on the internet. You put your VIN number in and it tells you all the options that were installed on your car. Just thought I'd share.

I tried the vin decoder, but i can't tell much. It says i have a 2.2 engine, but a manual transmission which i don't. The glove box sticker is cryptic.
It does have a 1lt in the last line, but doesn't mention engine size. Does that mean 2.2?
