Mine was set default with no horn and lights on first click, lights and horn with second click. I only click twice if I'm not sure the doors locked.

Does the LS have an alarm? I noticed one morning before I opened the door there was a flashing lock symbol going off in the dash. Never heard anything...

I'm used to an auto-arm system from my last car..so lot's of times I forget to lock it at all.

I'm with wxman. I silent lock it (with lights) and only double click when I'm further away and not quite sure it took. Also, when I'm in "unknown" territory I'm apt to use the horn.

I love the range with this set! My old Buick Riviera (96) you had to nearly touch the damn remote to the car for it to work. (And that was with replacement stuff!)

Has anyone had their remote "brain fart" and not work for a few minutes. I've gotten out, pressed the button with no response. Sometimes its the 3rd or 4th try... or I open the door and close it an it takes.

Its worse when it does that when I'm trying to UNLOCK it!

The flashing lock indicated the alarm is set.

I've never once seen the flashing lock on my dash - is it supposed to do this after you're out and press the lock button?

Great way to set the lock/alarm when needing to get something out of the back, and don't have a free hand to use the remote!

On the 2007-2008 when the lock icon disappears it is armed and flashing means it is arming.

Doing this on a 2006 will arm the alarm but on a 2007-2008 it won't. All you get is a locked car without an alarm. Only the HHR and the Cobalt are set up this way. All other Chevys arm the alarm when you use the door lock switch.

2006 1LT: I leave the remote at home, so before I exit the vehicle, with the driver's door closed, I hit the "lock all" button on the driver's door, then pull the doorlock post UP to get out, push it DOWN and shut the door, very old school.

The alarm is NOT set, but all doors are locked. That way, there's no noise when I get back in, and no rush to put the key in the ignition.

On mine, pressing the "lock all" button with the driver's door OPEN does set the alarm, the remote is not needed. For me, that means at least a couple of horn honks after I open the door before I can get in and turn the key in the ignition. I use it sometimes, but never overnight in the driveway - I leave for work too early, and I like to be a good neighbor.

I wish the alarm could be tuned off by simply turning a "valid key" in the door - I'm pretty sure there are other cars that work that way. If that could be set up - or if I could just DELAY the horn from sounding for another fifteen seconds - I'd use the alarm all the time.

We reset ours.

Hit unlock once and the driver's door unlocks. Hit it twice and all doors unlock.

Hit lock once - no horn honk. Hit lock twice and horn honks.

I think we changed the door locks, too, so that when it's put in gear, all the doors lock.

Here's a link to the 2007 owners manual: http://www.mygmlink.com/pdf/go2conte...et/2007hhr.pdf

Hope it helps!

2008 manual 2-18

Content Theft-Deterrent
Your vehicle may have a
content theft-deterrent
alarm system. If your
vehicle has Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE), then
it has content
theft-deterrent.
Arming the System
With the ignition off, you can arm the system by:
• Pressing the RKE transmitter lock button.
• Pressing the power door lock switch while the
driver’s door is open.
The system will arm after either of these things occur:
• Thirty seconds after all the doors are closed.
• Sixty seconds with any door open.
If you press the lock button on the transmitter a second
time while all the doors are closed, the system will
arm immediately. The system will still arm in 60 seconds
if a door is open. When the open door is closed, it will
also become armed.
The security light will turn on to indicate that arming has
been initiated. Once the system is armed, the security
light will flash once every three seconds.
If the security light is flashing twice per second, this
means that a door is open.
If you do not want to arm the system, you may lock the
car with the manual lock knobs on the doors.
Disarming the System
To disarm the system:
• Press the RKE transmitter unlock button.
• Turn the ignition on.
Once the system is disarmed, the security light will stop
flashing.
