How are your remote lock options set?
#21
Charles, the owners manual is a misprint based off of 2006 owners manuals. I have checked many 2007-2009 HHRs and it does not arm with the door switch like the 2006 will. I am wrong on the flashing and you are correct.
Easy test:
Roll down drivers window.
Push the electric lock button on door, chime will go off three times.
Close drivers door.
After a few seconds the horn will honk and doors will lock.
Look at instrument cluster.
There will be no flashing icon.
Wait a minute or so, unlock the door by pulling up on the manual lock.
Open door.
Alarm will not sound off.

I'm wrong on the flashing, I just never took the time to look at mine after it was locked, but I am sure on the fact that 2007 and up will not arm with the door lock switch, I have tried it many times on many HHRs.

I have mine set to flash upon locking/unlocking but to beep only on door lock. I sometimes forget to lock my door immediately, so as I'm about to go inside I'll press the lock button on the remote fob once and hear the beep just to verify that the door is locked. Beats having to walk all the way back to the car to check the locks.

Horn and lights for now; but personally, I'm waiting for the Trunk Monkey option for the HHR!

I reprogrammed it to just flash the lights when locking and unlocking the doors, no horn. I work late nights and live in an apartment complex and thought it was rude waking up the neighbors when I get home at 2 in the morning.

I have mine set to flash and honk when I set it for two reasons. I had it on flash only at first and found I always had to double check that I set it. I can now just walk away and push the botton and hear that it's set. The other reason is if someone is watching me leave they will at least know I set the alarm and at least might discourage some of them which is better than none.
