Policyholder provided evidence of fault of a third party - the insurer shall indemnify and does not increase in value of the policy for the next year;
Policyholder has not provided evidence of guilt of a third party - the insurer shall indemnify and increases the cost of the policy for next year because policyholder is automatically guilty.
American law - prove guilt neighbor or you'll be to blame?

Original poster Geg ;I always thought that the Americans are insured even penises.
I'm not sure any of us could afford the premium to cover the damages one of those can cause,

In the Russian Road Police fixes the fact of the accident, very often does not arrive on the scene. Circumstances of accident recorded "with the words of participants." Excellent field for fraudsters.
As an insurer, I endorse the American approach: "No culprit - get an expensive insurance policy." But as a driver, I do not want to pay for unscrupulous people.
I suspect that such people in Russia no less than in America. Most likely, more and more. A couple of times I also found the damage inflicted by an unknown villain.

Sometimes accidents do happen... I've door dinged a few cars, and I've felt really bad, but what am I going to do? I'm not careless, sometimes it just slips. Like I said, accidents happen. Door dings are a part of life, and luckily they are fixable. Heck, all my cars have door dings on them..sure they're irritating to get, but I move on.

How the hell is that careless? If the door slips out of your hand, that's a ****ing accident? I didn't whip it open!
It's a damn car...chill out. And it's not even that expensive of a car anyways....you're not driving around in some $100,000 car...

Even if it was an honest accident, you should just leave a note with your name and number. In fact, if it was an honest mistake, the other person will probably be nice and not even make you pay for it. On the other hand, if you don't leave a note, and they retrieve security camera footage, other evidence, then they're really gonna be pissed and definitely make you pay for it. Leaving a note is just the right thing to do.

Ok...if someone goes through the hassle of getting security footage, they've got a serious problem....

I have never hit someone elses car while opening a door. It's called being careful. What does it matter how much it costs? I still pay my hard earned money for it, and put money into it to make it look nicer. Having dents in my car because of people (like you) is not what I pay for.

Hey Eric, aka urbexHHR, CCK, KKK (hehe),
Although 99% of the time we never put ourselves in a position to aqiure a door ding as you put it, things happen! It's just when I get out of the car "it doesn't happen" because what is on my mind is making sure the door doesn't even tap whatever I might park next to! Also it should matter if it's a $100,000.00 car or an HHR, it's someone elses property that should be respected as though it was yours! I'm sure your HHR is pretty clean (not unless you know of some photo tricks, haha) and you don't just shrug off any new dents, dings or scratches that may be caused by other non-caring passer byes! To end my comments let's just say I have no problem (parking lot security cameras or not) of returning the favor to any POS that fills the need to park on top of or get near our rides! They just might find some new DLVRNIT inspired ignition key pin stripes added to there ride !!!!!
PEACE ,
