Unhappy I hated driving 2007 HHR

I loved the look, thought about buying one. Rented one to drive for two weeks, while in TX for business. I hated it! 2007 with only 300 miles when I got it. 800 miles later I hated it even more. Reasons: Buckle of driver seat dug into my right hip. I am average size and weight woman. No way to adjust the tilt in towards the driver/hip - woman would have to be size 0-2 for this not to be an issue! and can't imagine for average men (2) Rear view window view is VERY bad - head rest of rear seat BLOCK 1/3 of total view. I actually layed the lack seats down to amend this - glad I was only person in the vehicle (3) Bad blind spots on the passenger sides. (4) Late afternoon sun - usually you pull the visor down right? Remember I am the average ht. (5'5" woman) I had to duck down to see under the visor - the design of the windshield and visibility is bad! I hated the placement of the window controls - in the center consol too far forward to reach with comfort and the cup holders are too far back, have to almost twist your arm around to reach a cup or can in the holders. Windows and sunroof all had bad air leaks which were very noisy when driving on interstates (I was not speeding!). Holding steering wheel where we are now told to hold, due to airbags, etc. - everytime I made a sharp left my kuckles hit the wiper control stick, turning the wipers on! I must have done this 10 times! About the only good thing I liked was the lumbar adjustment on the driver seat and the heated seat - but even it did not do much for my sore hip from the seat belt! I have bought chevrolets the last 4 out of 5 cars I have bought, and this is, by far, the worst vehicle I have driven in a long time! I recently drove a Malibu and loved it - so just goes to show that I am not anti Chevy but I am sure anti- HHR now! I give this vehicle a two thumbs DOWN!!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by to give us your opinions. Guess the HHR isn't for everyone.

I am 5' 8" tall. female, wt 135 lbs, I have owner my HHR since April 06.
You learn to adjust you driving habit in every car you drive.
I came from a Ford Explorer.
I had problems at first, but have learn and now no problems, except the front window, but don't pull up to the light. Problem solved.
I have also owned a van so I have no blind spots.
I LOVE MY NEMO, HHR.

I guess we all have different experiences and opinions, but I have to say I have none of the complaints you do. I'm an average size guy and the seat belt fits me great, no problems. The rear view mirror problem can be fixed by pushing the mirror all the way up. You can still see a bit of the rear seats but vision is increased quite a bit. There are some blind spots, but if you use the outside mirrors and pay attention that can be overcome. With the visor, what I do is pull it down just as far as I need it to block the sun.. It took me a little while to figure out the visor can be pulled out to block the sun on the side. No getting around the fact that vision out the windshield is bad, and it can be tough to see traffic lights, but there are remedies for that also. I have grown to like the short windshield as it makes the car looked chopped from the inside. The window controls are different, but I have got used to thier placement now, and even find myself reaching to the center console in our van to roll down the window . I've never had any problems hitting the windshiled wipers while driving either. I'm sorry you had a bad experience in your rental HHR, and I wish you happiness with your Malibu, or whatever you choose to drive.

PS looks like the disney HHRs are all over this one

to this ChevyHHr.Net site I just want to say One thing I have 3 women in my family they drive my beautyful Daytona Blue 2Lt that has everything except On star, I my self feel if I have a good Cell then I dont need the On Star, LOL. None of the 3 Z-Girls have any problem other than they want more power.

The only problem that I have found is that Chevy could of put a few more HP in the engine. Good luck with your next RENTAL or NEXT PURCHASE.

Isn't this a great country? There are more than 250 models available in the US to suit the very diverse tastes of Americans. Thank you for sharing but this site is really for HHR enthusiasts.

BTW - I had 2005 Malibu Maxx LT that I LOVED. It was a sleeper that was saddled with unfortunate looks. If you liked the Malibu, you should check out the Saturn Aura - similar car executed at a much higher level. I picked up an '07 a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be happier with it.

Hummm... my tilt steering wheel works just fine.
I have bigger hips than ya'll and the belt doesn't dig in at all.
