i like my hhr. good luck with the dealer. you might try going to different dealers. i went to 2 different dealers , a large 1 , and a small town 1. i offered both $17,500 cash, for vehicles with $18,something on the red tag. both said they wouldn't take a penny less than what was on the red tag. same thing on their preowned. i got decent deal on a nearly imaculate preowned from a private seller. $15,900 , it had 24,000 miles , 2lt. it's as nice or nicer than ANYTHING they had on the lot. a little less rubber on the tires and few stone chips are the only difference , and the 1 i got is LOADED w/options. the ones on the lot were not. the original sticker for mine was $23,535+.

First of all I want to say hi to all and hope that you will share your wisdom with me in the HHR world. I have liked them since they came out and I have now come to the time to buy one, I have decided on a new 2009 HHR Panel 2LT. I want to get the best deal and thats where you come in, I see that there is very few of them on the market (at least in my area) and that will be a problem if I can't find one on a lot with the colors and stuff that I want. Can a guy order one from a dealer and still get a deal? I spoke with a salesman the other day and he says yeah I can order one BUT if the specials aren't running when your car comes in then you don't get the same deals that are running now. Idon't mind flying to a different state if the deal pencils out.I would like to buy a Card. red panel LT with sunroof and the big stereo along with running boards and black leather interior. A rear camera might be nice and how about the rear sliding work shelf? I am also still on the fence about the transmission I see that this model comes with the automatic but should I get the 5 speed manual?
Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks from your newbie. Rick
I shopped the internet.
I wanted a fully loaded SS and shopped around. I then e mailed my local dealer and we agree on the price I wanted on line. [Note I got $4,000 off sticker on July 31].
Once we agreed on price we then started the search. I wanted a Red HHR but also would settle for a Black one.
I would only give on color and roof rack. Everyting else I had to have.
After 2 days we found my HHR and they brought it in.
I did not have to order and got what I wanted at the price I wanted. A good dealer and salesman will work for you so let them. My dealer was willing to go as far as GA from OH to get mine and farther it needed.
There are a lot of HHRs around.
Make a list of must have options and colors. Let them know and they can find it for you. List what you can do with or with out so it gives them some help. Right now with the prices you will get go for as many options as you can.
As for tranny that is up to you, both are fine it is just what you want.
Note some options that are not available yet like the back up camera will delay even a ordered HHR. Check the dealer for availability on some of the new options.

Thanks for the replys I did look at all the dealers inventory in WA. and Ore and only found 1 09 HHR Panel 2LT, I am checking on it Friday so how much can I expect that I might be able to buy under MVRP?
I did talk to another salesman at another delership and he wasn't interested in helping me find my type of HHR in another state from another dealer, he said he would help me with an order from the factory but wouldn't be able to price it until it arrived because as stated above. Geez....

I had one tell me that the price I wanted was not possible. He wanted $3,000 more than the one I found out of town.
The funny thing is the dealer nearest me is the one that was willing to get the SS from where ever and give it to me at the price I asked. They were close and I said you make it this price I will buy right now. He e mailed me back said I just bought the SS.
I find often the sales staff working E mail are the ones more willing to do the leg work to help you.
I never met the guy but once 3 months before when he offered me a test drive on my own in the SS they had 3 min after I met him.
It is better to let the dealers search as they cam better find the cars. But you can look on Autotrader.com and look. I found it worked better than the GM site.
As it gets closer to the end of the month the better the price and the more they will want to help you. If you order one now it may take a while.
If you were not so far away I would recomend the guy I worked with. He was the accpetion to the rule on saleman.
