General HHR Discuss anything related to the Chevy HHR that doesnt seem to fit into the more specific categories below.

I need an opinion - 2.2 or 2.4?

I don't know!, Perhaps The toy company knew what Chevy was going to do???, LOL!!..but then again, If the toy company made that little addition to give us an idea of what was about to happen, Chevy might have sued them....But Its a nice idea just to even think about it! :)

Maybe Chevy is going to put little buttons on top of new upcoming models. And when pressed make all kinds of stupid sounds.

I doubt if Chevy would share their advanced product designs with a toy company, especially when they are attempting to hide those same designs from the current media.

I'm done high jacking!!!

I've driven a 2.2 rental for a week (prior to buying) and now own a 2.4... while I certainly like the 2.4 better, the 2.2 is fine as well (neither is really a sports car - sorry guys!). If it helps any, I have not put anything but regular in my 2.4 and am doing fine with it. Getting 26-28mpg average in mixed driving. I did some long highway trips in the 2.2 rental and got 30mpg average. Both are/were automatics.

Good luck!

2.2 works just fine for us too! We always seem to get where we're going, anyway! If I had to get there faster I would have looked for something with a V-6.

My wife and I were on the interstate with our 2.2 and we came up behind an Escalade. He was driving 55mph on a 75 mph road. So I moved in to the passing lane to pass and he sped up so that I could'nt pass so then I sped up then he sped up some more pretty soon be were both do 100 mph then he backed off I'm sure if his wife wasn't screaming at him he would have kicked my a$$. Any way at that moment I wished I had more power but other than that I've been happy. BTW my wife was screaming too " Smoke him honey kick his @SS" Shes fun.

Does anyone know when the governor kicks in?

My 2.2 runs like a striped ape. I think I have a factory freak, because it feels as spritely as a 2.4 I test drove, yet the DIC consistently shows 29mpg or better in suburban (not highway) driving.

Prior to the HHR I had a '95 Vette, so I know what spritely acceleration is

I feel the same way about mine. Plus i know if i want to build serious power some day (by that i mean when tuning is available), the 2.2 has alot more potential because it lacks the VVT.

Plus this toy came out sooooo long ago. There was very little talk of an SS and no photos only rumors that chevy might look into one.

Back to the thread I like and have the 2.4 vs the 2.2 I do think the 2.4 is worth it. I drove the 2.2 for over a month and did notice some difference in them. My wife who doesnt really drive it said the same thing. But this could also b due to the fact own the 2.4 and the 2.2 was a rental.
