I might run over to the Chevy dealer tomorrow, just to test drive one, which I haven't found time to do yet.
I know the HHR is no tire fryer, but as long as it can keep up with traffic I'll be happy. I like the 450+ mile range on a tank of gas. I get around ± 200 as it is with the Z so that would be outstanding.

Where in so cal are you? I got one heck of deal and customer sercive at Rancho Valley Chevy in Pomona. Even though it's 60+ miles away, it was worth it as I was jerked around by local dealerships.

im in No. San Diego Co. Weseloh chevy is about 3 min from my office.
I've already purchased a 95 Camaro from them before (I bought my z28 from Harloff BMW/Chevy but they closed the Chevy part down).
I would only drive to Pomona after a great deal of comparison shopping here in San Diego Co. but thanks for the tip. I think I 'm a long way off til I get to that point.

I have the 2.4 and I think it has plenty of power . No , it wont compare to your Z 28 but it is quick enough to get out into traffic and onto the interstate .

keep the z, sell the jeep, and give the HHR to the wife for her daily driver

Perfect solution mudbilly. Does she have a birthday coming up? How about an early Christmas present? A brand new car is the ultimate gift from your significant other.

Sindy, I didn't know you got yours there too (but it's "Rancho" Valley). Great place...best car buying experience I ever had...didn't hurt that my sales lady was hot!

Diden't hurt that my sales guys Darryl or Greg we hot! I went through Internet sales and a few in person visits. What I was impressed with the most is, they ordered my HHR with exactly the options I wanted and placed the order without a deposit. Just a few emails and it was done!

nice try but she'd never go for that, and I wouldn't either...
unless Chevy is plannng on coming out with a 4WD HHR. We go to Mexico almost annually to places that require 4WD to get there.
We love to travel in the Jeep, so that's outta the question.
That's a good suggestion though.
I really appreciate the input you guys! :)
