Thanks for the replies.... all four of my doors on my 09 SS are missing those inserts. I bought the car brand new and I think it never had the inserts so probably either were missed at assembly or as some are saying here, sucked out by some vacuum cleaner at the dealer.
Now I wonder if GM will get me new ones on the warranty... hard to prove they were never there when I got the car.

GM quit installing them in 09. They would have been a different size than 06-08 tho.

Yes they are a different size, but I have them in my 2011, who knows what GM is thinking at times.

They probably didn't stop installing them,

the dealers probably scarfed them for the parts department.

Some 09's would have had them. When I was looking at my 09 they didn't have them, but the red SS beside mine did. So I ordered two for the front doors only, cause they are the only two windows I open, and when the occasional rain drop gets in, it seems to run down to that spot. I didn't want the screws to start rusting.

Many moons ago in High School I worked at a dealership part time doing new car prep, you'd be amazed at what is missing half the time, and at what you find. I still have old coffee cans full of new GM nuts/bolts/trim clips/hardware/screws and the like that we found laying in new cars. Things are much better than the were 30 years ago, but I have to believe the number of units coming in with parts missing or "extra pieces" is still pretty high.

No-never stopped making them....Just never stopped sucking them away at prep....

They come with a small tab that inserts into a small rectangular hole on the edge of the area above the door screws. The tab should have some sort of barb on it but it is smooth instead making it easy for them to fall out.

I laughed when I put the new ones in from the dealer. They sort of just lay there like a cheap woman...

It was when seeing this small rectangular hole that I thought there must be an insert that fits in there... strange how they don't make use of that.

Do you happen to know the part number for these?.. and the price?

Red face There was a thread on this.

Myself and a couple of other '09 SS owners noticed that the inserts for the doors and cup holders were not installed, only the little coin tray had the insert. This was back in '09. Basically we were told that they were not being installed as they were a different size than the previous models and it would cost too much to re-tool to make them. This was before the crash and restructure of GM. So we were just SOL.
