Question Insurance...

I was just wondering about the insurance on your HHR's. I am currently insured through State Farm, and they are telling me that this vehicle is an SUV, making my insurance much more expensive than if it were considered a Wagon or Car. Isn't the HHR sitting on a Chevy Cobalt chassis? I thought the motor, chassis, and pretty much everything but the body was the same as the Cobalt, making this a car, not an SUV. I mean really, you can't jack this thing up and put mudders on it, it doesn't have 4WD even as an option, so how can they deem it an SUV. Any suggestions?

Nobody knows what to call this vehicle. Everyone has a different opinion on it.

In Michigan it's a wagon. I know my insurance is pretty cheap. But I do have multi car discount, and student discount along with countless other ones. I think mine is $450 or so for 6 months. Give or take a little, that's about $75 per month for full coverage.

I have SF insurance; I don't know or care what they classify it as but even with the SS the insurance is decent. I think the insurance rate has more to do with the car's claim history than the vehicle class. I bet the Cobalt's insurance isn't much or any cheaper.

In Kansas, my 06 was listed as a "car". My 09 is now listed as a SUV. The government will do as they please!

Insurance...

I'm in Michigan, and my insurance is through Progressive (despite the annoying redhead in the commercials). My 2008 HHR LS is considered a wagon according to them. I'm 30 years old, no tickets or accidents, and for full coverage my insurance is about $370 for 6 months, so I can't complain about that!

I'm in Ohio also but my registration has it listed as PC (passenger car) which I like since I use to have pick up trucks and those plates cost a lot more.
