I shopped around and Shelter Insurance beat all the companies already mentioned in this thread by a long shot and the only reason I even knew about them was their high ratings on JD Powers. You have to figure that any company that spends millions on advertising like Progressive and Geico, has to be charging more to help pay for that advertising than a smaller company that doesn't advertise, like Shelter.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I am going to talk to my insurance company because I think they are charging way to much. I appreciate all of the info.

I had a strange thing happen at the insurance company. They gladly insured my SS HHR... no problem. This year I picked up an 89 Crown Vic. with 50,000 miles on it from an 80 year old lady. Went to get the insurance....first question was.."Is it a police intercepter"?...no sir it is an LX,, "good thing, we dont insure P.I's". WTF??

I switched to Geico, my SS is about $40 a month to insure. I called them and went line by line and made sure I had the same exact coverage as my previous company.

on my Massachusetts registration the body style just says "utility",

I have SF and in GA, it's about $600/year with no deductable. The GA title states wagon, I think when it was registered in South Carolina, it was listed as a wagon also.

I switched to Geico when I bought the car... They quoted me one price, easily affordable. Then a week later, I got a call saying they misquoted me, and it'd be almost $1,000 per 6 months to insure the HHR. Of course I already had it, and could not afford that, and most other places were too expensive, so I couldn't really afford them either.

Thankfully my agent found that AAA was cheaper, so that's what I have now. But I don't trust Geico.
