Insurance Cost

So my g/f picked up a 2006 HHR LT 2.2, automatic. Replacing a 1998 Mercedes E320. Our insurance went up $45/month or $540 year! This is through Progressive. And is for liability only!

Is this normal for this vehicle? I thought being a subcompact 4cyl hatch/wagon it would not be so pricey on the insurance.

IMO the main problem with the up charge is Progressive ! I had my car,Motorcycle and house with them, No tickets or accidents and they raise the rates through the roof for no reason, I was in my lets 50s then Gave them the boot and talked to a local agent got a better plan and cheaper.
So call a few other insurance Co/

Lot of factors when it comes to $ amounts for auto insurance. Age, sex, risk factor, driving record, where you live, etc.
I'm 62, male, with a clean record. My 2010 HHR SS costs me $748 per year ($62 a month) for full coverage. Also carry 2 other vehicles on my policy, so I do get a multi car discount. (not much though )

Here in Texas, maybe elsewhere the HHR is listed by Insurance companies as a light truck. Our HHR has always been more expensive to insure than any other vehicle we have owned over the last 14 years. For just liability, no comp it is more than our 4x4 suburban and my 2010 rs/ss Camero with FULL coverage. The HHR runs about $100.00 per month and only gets driven about 25 miles per month. I have started looking around but have some discounts since all of our cars and houses have been with Allstate for over 30 years. No claims ever, what a rip off. I'm 69 and wife is 68....no kids either.

I won't talk about our prices. Not correct.
All the same, different countries, different approaches to insurance protection.
But I can say that the cost of insurance also puts pressure on the budget, although it is immeasurably less than your prices if you count in USD.
Some "life hack": Small coins are terribly in the way in the pocket - every day when I come home, I scoop out a trifle from my pocket and pour it into a jar. During the year, an amount is collected that is comparable to the annual payment for insurance - it turns out less painfully, as if saved.
I understand that some people pay with a card everywhere, such a life hack will not work for them.

Is that amount you pay for full coverage?

Yeah, I know one reason is I live in SWFL, Charlotte county. Every insurance rep says geographically one of the most expensive places to insure.

I was just floored that this little HHR of my g/f's is more expensive to insure than my Mercedes ML320, or her E320 its replacing. We're both lower-middle ages (38/47), relatively clean records (maybe one ticket still on there). I do remember the rep asking if it was a mini truck, I said no, more like a station wagon or hatch back. Think maybe it is time to shop around. $2k+ a year for liability only on 2 cars .....no thank you.
