Unhappy interior trim paint?

so i've noticed slowly over time that my interior trim paint on the door is scratching off more and more... mostly on the passenger side (damn reckless passengers!) i was wondering if this was a common problem for anyone else on here and any fixes anyone has done i have a tan interior and im referring to the brown horizontal stripe that runs through the middle of the door

Yup - and be careful what you clean it with as it seems to be very sensitive and easily damaged. The strip on my driver's door started flaking and my dealer replaced it under warranty. But even on the new one I can see a shiney area beginning to develop on the usually matte surface where my left knee sometimes leans up againt it. (I also have the cashmere interior.)

Not that it matters, just an observation of min........I read a document a while back stating that the HHR interior has an expensive paint coating on the dash and door panels. You can tell they look and feel different than those in the rear hatch area as an example. I know my dash and doors don't take vinyl protection cream or gel as well as other plastics in the car.

There is some kind of coat on it. Mine is ugly as all get out.

Tried to cover it with some carbon fiber vinyl, but it wouldn't do what I wanted it to. And when I pulled it off along came the coating to, so it looks worse now.

I don't do anything to the dash and doors any more but wipe with California Duster and an occasional damp sponge. No solvents or protectors as they don't absorb in too well.
