A hint, when removing the old one , if the shaft is seized and won’t collapse by hand, break out the sawzall and cut the shaft, beating on it will kill the steering rack input shaft or the steering column.

Will do. I've got the part ordered on Amazon, bought the genuine gm shaft kit for 204 but won't be able to install it until next week. Looks pretty straight forward to install. No rust underneath the car to deal with. One question though, under the dash there is a plastic sensor (for the turn signal maybe?) Attached to the shaft. Anything I need to now about it?

If you don't get the rubber boot installed correctly, it will pop out and you'll hear lots of engine and road noise. Just takes a bit of patience.

Perhaps the steering angle sensor. The black plastic piece near the lower end of the column

That piece next to the splines?

Yeah I believe that's what it is I'd have to get back up under there. I'll do that tomorrow and take a Pic if I can.

Thankfully you don’t have to remove that . The upper yoke should come off easy after cutting the shaft.

Well let's hope I don't have to cut the shaft. It'd be my luck I cut it and the replacement is wrong...stranded!
