Thumbs up Introducing Stolen Vehicle Slowdown on 09 Models

Got this in an email from On-Star, thought you guys/gals would like to see:

Available on select 2009 GM vehicles, OnStar can work with authorities to remotely slow down a stolen vehicle, helping to reduce fatalities and damage.

1. Subscriber reports stolen vehicle to authorities and requests Stolen Vehicle Assistance from OnStar
2. OnStar pinpoints the vehicle's exact location with real-time GPS and provides it to authorities
3. Police establish a clear line of sight of the stolen vehicle and request that OnStar slow it down
4. OnStar sends a remote signal to slow the vehicle down gradually

2009 Chevrolet Equipped Vehicles:

Yeah, I kinda wanna try it out on my 09, just to see if it works, you know, let the wife take it out, and call it in stolen. But i dont wanna waste the police dept time or stop them from trying to get the real lawbreakers.

Is this going to be called the "OJ Plan"? 55 mph car chases for miles and miles all over the news.

And in another 20 years when we are used to it, they will have highway transmitters that won't let you drive over 65, careful what you wish for, big brothers and boyscouts in power are always lurking in the shadows.

I was just going to say this. with every good idea are the bad. They will use this tech against it's people . 1984 folks.

The Black box that is in most vehicles can already be used against you for insurance reasons. Not to save you but to give insuarnce reasons to not pay for an accident. Like what was said, careful what you ask for.

Do you think it will really take 20 years? I would say that within the next 5 that law enforcement could contact OnStar and "shut down" vehicles for felony stops when the drivers try to take off..... Sounds like the technology is there already.
